So me and a friend have wanted to photograph the SS carbon, over on Compton Beach for a while, this is over in West Wight, near Freshwater bay,  so we met there at 4.30am, and we followed the tide out, I was very glad I was wearing my wellies, the water was still quite high in places. We chose this day as the tide was predicted to go out further than usual, with the SS Carbon been a little bit out, the lower the tide the better, as more is exposed. we sat on rocks just meters from the SS Carbon, set up our tripod and really took in the moment, it was magical been right next to this boat, which has been there for 75 years, it ran aground to its resting location in 1947.

Carbon SS was a British Admiralty Steam Tug of 185 tons built in 1896. She was owned by the admiralty from 1900 and used as a dockyard berthing tug, number C150. Sold in 1947 and was lost when under tow when she then ran aground. Read more at wrecksite: https://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?11518

Which one do you prefer colour or black +white?

Also below is a few drone photos we took, showing location of Compton Bay beach with the tide out, with the SS carbon wreck in the picture, those rocks which we used to walk along were very slippery, so care must be taken to avoid injury if you go exploring.

I really enjoy exploring the Isle of wight, there is so many photography opportunities, so much history, and something new to do every direction you turn.
